Part of the legendary Staple Singers, along with her father Roebuck ā€œPopsā€ Staples and her siblings Cleotha, Pervis and Yvonne, this first solo outing was released on Stax Records subsidiary Volt and produced by Stax’s Al Bell and Steve Cropper. Included are the single ā€œYou’re Driving Me (To the Arms of a Stranger)ā€ along with powerful versions of ā€œSon of A Preacher Manā€ and ā€œA House Is Not A Homeā€. The musicians who play on the album is a who’s who of soul including, Isaac Hayes (organ), Steve Cropper (guitar), Donald ā€œDuckā€ Dunn (bass), and Al Jackson Jr. (drums).
