MT Gemini Hawk Den Hear Vinyl LP 2026

MT Gemini Hawk Den Hear Vinyl LP 2026

Tracklist:

Tbc

MT Gemini returns with Hawk Deh Near, his most intense and uncompromising work to date. The title comes from the Jamaican proverb ā€œChicken merry, hawk deh nearā€, capturing the album’s core tension between surface lightness and underlying threat.

Leaning toward incantation rather than genre, Hawk Deh Near treats reggae as raw material. Fragments of rhythm, melody and texture are pulled into abrasive, hypnotic compositions shaped by repetition, saturation and warped psychedelia. Familiar forms are destabilised, resulting in music that feels deconstructed, ritualistic and emotionally direct. Individual tracks move between stripped-back, trance-like structures and more fractured, disorienting moments.

The album was recorded, produced and mixed by Yannick Franck using a process that resists hyper-controlled digital production. Texture, imperfection and psycho-acoustic instability are foregrounded, allowing distortion, accidents and ambiguity to actively shape the sound.

MT Gemini is Franck’s long-running avant-dub project, mutating elements of ska, rocksteady and dancehall through unorthodox electroacoustic practices. Rather than revivalism, obscured traces of familiar forms re-emerge from unexpected angles, recomposed into dense, ceremonial sound environments.
